Relative Strength Index (RSI) is an indicator used in the financial markets to measure the strength of both buyers and sellers. The RSI indicator is calculated by comparing the number of up days and down days over a certain time period. Simply put, the RSI can be used to approximate the balance of power between buyers and sellers. For example, if there are ten thousand people facing a virtual currency, and five thousand people or more are buying, everyone will try to haggle and the currency price will rise. Conversely, if there are five thousand people or more selling, the currency price will fall. As the RSI approaches the upper level, it often indicates overbought conditions, which can cause resistance. Conversely, when the RSI approaches the lower level, it usually represents oversold conditions, which can lead to support.

To use the ETH/USDT trading pair as an example, the pink area represents the 30-70 range, and the purple line represents the RSI value. We can see that in normal market conditions, the RSI value of ETH always stays within the 30-70 range. When the RSI approaches the upper level, the currency price may also reach a recent high. Conversely, when the RSI value approaches the lower level, the currency price may also reach a low. In addition, the RSI can also be used to detect the divergence指标. In an uptrend where the currency price continues to break through the previous high, if the RSI forms one peak higher than the next, it is a sign of a positive momentum, which can continue the trend. However, if the RSI does not form one peak higher than the next, but instead forms one peak lower, it indicates a potential sell signal.

On the other hand, in a downtrend where the currency price continues to break through the previous low, if the RSI forms one peak lower than the next, it usually indicates a potential buy signal. Conversely, if the RSI does not form one peak lower than the next, but instead forms one peak higher, it indicates a potential sell signal.
